I had a look at a trib of the Wye as well, where I was lucky enough to see approximately 25-30 Brook Lamprey (I think.....they were 6 inches or so long) in a tight scrum about the size of a dustbin lid, on a nearbank gravel run. I watched them for 10 minutes or so, very interesting, occasionally one would drop back from where it had gripped onto a stone, and re-position itself on another stone. I'm going back down later with a camera, so if the shots are any good, I'll post them on here.
