Thanks

Hi Ian
Didn't think they were a realistic target on the Teme anymore, thats why I was thinkng of the upper severn. I'l be giving it a bash though now. Mark |

Mark,
I was wondering the same. I have BAA card too and was hoping to fish the upper [above Buttington]. I have been meaning to do it for ages but find it hard not to fish for Barbel when I can. Are you thinking of float fishing for em? I was hoping to fish a fly for em as its one of the few fish I've had on a fly. Whereabouts are you? I would be happy to meet up one week end possibly and we could compare styles. It would be a new thing for me as I have never attempted to catch grayling on a fly before. I have had some good adivice off TomR that I need to try out. PM me if you like. Anyway to answer the question I don't know exactly if they hold good heas of grayling, but they certainly do hold grayling. Get in touch if you like and see if we can tie up possibly, or if not maybe you could let me know how you get on anyway? Cheers. CronkyVoddy. |

Hi Cronky
I was hoping to do some float fishing for them yes, not much of a float angler mind so probally end up on the feeder lol. I'm down in Wales just below Hereford but always travel to go fishing, yes I have the Wye on my doorstep but I get bored fishing the same rivers all the time, like you said I find it hard to not to fish for Barbel too. It would be good to meet up but I can mainly only fish weekdays. Hoping to get on the river when its relatively low so I'm hoping for a proper winter this year maybe then I can put the Barbel gear away. If I do get chance to fish a weekend I'l get in touch and see if your free. Mark |

Nice one. Cheers mate. If I can time it right [ certain days] I may be able to do a weekday fish in.
I have always fancied trotting a stick float down with a centre pin but I think that fly fishing may be harder , if you get where I'm coming from. I also see it as a challenge and really want to get one on a fly that I have tied, besides the idea of wandering along the river with just waders a net and a box of flies really appeals to me. I am expecting it to be a steep learning curve and I'm not looking for biggies, I'm just looking for em.... ... and anything else that happens to come along. A double figure Barbel on a 4 weight fly rod, from the upper Severn, .............that would be ...........................................entertaining. Anyway, keep in touch and I shall let you know how I get on if I beat you to it ! Cheers.
